Thanks for a massive 2012 video mash up from Beatcheck.

By | Uncategorized, Video | No Comments

2012 has been a crazy year for Beatcheck and its crew. We launched our record label, we hosted a stage in Campbell Park, put on Free Parties, after parties and some just plain stupid parties. Beatcheck would like to thank you all for being there and making it happen, from the ravers to the residents, the clubs to the fields, and most of all, the crazy ass party people of MK. Here is a little mash up of our last two events, footage from both the NAPT show and the…

What happens when you put Beatcheck and Ultra Vegas in a field?

By | Uncategorized, Video | No Comments

This years Summer Fayre was a hell of a party, with two of MK’s biggest underground music brands playing head to head in one small field, in the heart of the city. At the end of the night Ultra Vegas had the crowd going wild and Beatcheck’s tent had the Jungle crew jumping. The Beatcheck Monkey found this short video online, a guarantee to put a smile of the face of those in attendance and a green look of envy for those who missed it. Credit to Loz Jackson for…

Scooters, we all had one as a kid, or at least the Beatcheck Monkey did…. Most of us moved on to a BMX, or a Skateboard, casting off the old naff scooter for cooler modes of trickery. But when Matt Wiles, Jake Pogson, Brad Ackerman, Ollie Thompson, Alex Welsh, Ashley Duncan, and Danny Roberts take to the mean streets of Milton Keynes, they make Scooters look cool again. Check some of these moves out….

“Catch the Monkey” Beatcheck’s music video with Paramount Parkour

By | Music, Video | No Comments

Following the release of compilation album,  Sounds from a Concrete City, we wanted to create a video that captured Milton Keynes. That’s when we spoke to the top dogs of  MK based, Paramount Parkour Academy. When we spoke to the insane building leaping athletes, we were sure the results of the video would be interesting, but after arriving on location to witness more back flips than the russian state circus,  we knew we had asked the right guys to help us out. The air was buzzing. So, with a “flipping”…

MK heats up for nine days of International festivities

By | Activities, Art, Uncategorized, Video | No Comments

For the next nine days, Milton Keynes will be transformed in to a sprawling urban arts festival, bringing colour, sounds and performance to the streets and venues of our concrete City. Listed in the top 100 festivals by The Sunday Times, The International Festival offers to bring some of the globe’s finest performers and artists to Milton Keynes, firmly putting MK on the cultural map, rather than the cultural toilet seat. Sound a bit artsy fartsy for you? Then you must think that turning the whole of Campbell park into…

Paul McCartney pays tribute to Milton Keynes legend Jim Marshall

By | Music, Video | No Comments

It’s not everyday that Sir Paul McCartney plays a tune in honour of a Milton Keynes legend, but the Beatles star has done just that. Sir Paul released a video this week paying tribute to Jim Marshall, creator of the Marshall amp, who died in the concrete city on 5 April. Jim was the driving force behind Marshall Amplification, which is proudly based in Milton Keynes. The clip shows Sir Paul playing guitar during a session with his band. In it he says: “This goes to to the family and…

Five reasons to enjoy still being a town

By | Video | One Comment

So Milton Keynes missed out on city status yet again – helping to prove that buying in a football club, building an IKEA the size of Saturn, and filling the town centre with every chain store and bar this side of the Sun does not make a city. But hey, we’re still a town, and that’s ok. To make us feel better about it, here’s Beatcheck’s run down of the top five town tracks of all time. Enjoy, townies. 1. The Specials, Ghost Town 2. The Killers, Sam’s Town 3….

Who needs the Snow Dome in weather like this?

By | Video | No Comments

Milton Keynes may have one of Europe’s biggest indoor ski slopes, but when there’s white stuff sitting on the streets of the concrete city, who needs to go indoors to get boarding? Why not take a leaf out of these guys’ books? If they can do it with snow nicked from Xscape, imagine what you can do with the real thing…. Happy weekend people..
